Back From New Orleans

There is an old joke. What is the difference between an Alabama football fan and a puppy?

The puppy eventually stops whining.

Bama fans need to stop whining about the Sugar Bowl. They got their butts kicked by a better team. Better prepared. Better execution. (In fact, I'm sure at one point, Nick Saban would have been in favor of executing his team.)

A team that everyone expected to win eight or nine games won 12 and beat Auburn.
Many more positives than negatives.

New Orleans.

The city is different. I've been there before when it seem like everyone was ticked off and ready to fight. Talking about the locals....not the tourist.
Maybe it is the "Katrina effect." But everyone was helpful and nice. They seemed eager to help all the Bama and Utah fans. It is still very strange, and a little unsettling, to see the Hyatt and New Orleans Town Center deserted.

The down side-there were three murders in the overnight hours of New Year's Eve.
That was no where near all the tourist stops.
But of all my trips to New Orleans, this one went the smoothest.

Andre Smith

Many Bama fans have already turned on Andre Smith. Sure, he should have held off on an agent so he could have played in the Sugar Bowl. But he did give Alabama three great years. He put his teammates in a bad spot. But he is also looking out for his family. He will soon have enough money to take care of his family for a lifetime. Bama fundraisers I'm sure have already called him about donating to the scholarship fund.

Glad I'm back. Did manage to get a poker stop in at the casino. Skip the buffet upstairs and go to Mothers down the street for breakfast.

More later.
